Nuneaton Roof Truss is doubling-down on its commitment to environmental performance by applying for Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).

House building is going green: it is what the industry wants, what the government requires, and what buyers demand. Being sustainable is one thing, but proving it is only going to become more important as time passes.

At Nuneaton Roof Truss we know this, and beyond our strong commitment to using natural and certified sustainably-sourced materials, we are now in the process of bolstering our credentials by applying for Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification on our roof and attic trusses.

By applying for EPD, verified by an accredited third party, Nuneaton Roof Truss will be able to provide customers with a breakdown of our products’ environmental impact, based on a detailed life cycle analysis (LCA).

What is EPD certification?

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a transparent, objective report that communicates what a product is made of and how it impacts the environment across its entire life cycle. A verified EPD can be used to obtain BREEAM LCD and gives credits for LEED v4 and other green building rating systems. EPDs satisfy all of the requirements of Product Category Rules (PCR) and follow international standards, including ISO 14044, ISO 14025, and ISO 21930.

At its heart, EPD is  an independently verified and registered document that communicates information about the life-cycle environmental impact of products. Crucially, it does this in a way that makes comparisons with competing products easy, therefore allowing buyers the clarity they need to make a purchasing decision.

What EPD means for you

Put simply, having EPD certification means Nuneaton Roof Truss will provide credible environmental performance data for our wide range of products.

“Having EPD will be a further feather in our cap, and it will give extra confidence to our clients,” said Josh McEwan, sales director at Nuneaton Roof Truss.

The process is expected to be complete later in 2022, Josh said.

“It is a very serious process, and involves quite a lot of work on our part, but that is why it is so meaningful,” he said.

With EPD, Nuneaton Roof Truss products will meet key future-proofing standards, including the latest LEED. This will be a real boon for architects and home builders, guaranteeing them compliance with the regulations that matter.
